After a relatively quiet few days, today we had another blue marlin, 250kg. On 16.8.08 we had a 10 minute fight with a blue marlin but unfortunately he slipped the hook, 18.8.08 we had a contact but this one didn't take the lure. We are still also catching bonito. There have also been many sightings of whales, including a blue whale, approximately 60 foot long. Dolphins are frequently seen, also flying fish and turtles.

August 9, 2008
Today Paul had 2 blue marlins on Niklas II. One 260kg and the other a whopping 425kg. That is 17 blue marlins now, 5 caught by Paul. Well done to Paul and the fantastic crew on Niklas II.

August 5, 2008
Yesterday we had 4 good contacts with blue marlin and Tom Goords from Holland was lucky enough to bring his into the boat. It was estimated to be 140kg. His friend, Martijn, caught a 10kg tuna. Today we had a blue marlin in excess of 300kg on the line for 10 minutes, but he managed to escape the hook. We also had a contact with a spearfish. We have now secured 2 people for part charter for the Pasito Blanco competition so please another 2 people!!!!

July 31, 2008
Yesterday saw blue marlin no. 14 and white marlin no. 3 for Niklas II. Andy from Howick, Scottish borders, had a blue marlin, approx 200kg and Paul had his 4th marlin of this year, but this time a white one, approx 50kg.
Due to cancellation because of illness, the Pasito Blanco competition on 28-30 August this year, is now available on Niklas II, either as a full charter for the 3 days or part charter. The clients had also booked accommodation for the week so if you are interested, you only need your flights!!! Dont delay - enquire for more details.
Read below about the excitement in the Puerto Rico competition and then try your luck with us.
We are also available for the Fuerteventura competition which is 11-14 September. This would need to be a full or part charter for a week to allow for travelling to the island.

July 27, 2008
The 3 day competition was a resounding success this year with many many contacts with blue marlins and also many catches. On Day 1 Niklas II had 3 contacts, but unfortunately the lure was not taken on any of them. We saw 3 whales but not 1 dolphin during the 7 hours of fishing. Today, according to the rules, we could only catch blue marlin and any caught had to be released. 11 blue marlins were caught and released today. Day 2 was very quiet for us and today and tomorrow we could fish for blue and white marlin, spearfish, tuna, dorado and wahoo. Only 4 blue marlins were caught and released in total today. Day 3 was the best day for us - we had 4 blue marlins at the boat and successfully caught and released a blue marlin, on 50lb line, estimated at 100kg. Congratulations to Darren Roberts for that. Today there was a total of 12 blue marlins caught - 11 released and one brought in and 1 white marlin released. Two private fishing boats had caught and released 3 blue marlins over the 3 days so they were the winners of the competition. We then enjoyed a presentation dinner in the evening.
A very big thank you to Stephen, Lyn and Darren Roberts and Clare for chartering the boat for the 3 days. Also thanks to Mick, Pauline and family for being with us on Sagitarius and doing the parascending.

July 23, 2008
18.7.08 saw marlin no. 2 for Paul this month, approx 180kg. 21.7.08, Niklas II had their 12th blue marlin this season, this one was a joint effort between Holger, Germany and Paul and weighed in at 120kg. There was another contact at the same time as this one this morning and later in the afternoon there was another contact. Yesterday we had bonitos and today some nice size bonitos. Tomorrow sees the start of the annual 3 day Puerto Rico competition. We have Stephen Roberts from England fishing the 3 days with us on Niklas II, so fingers crossed.

July 17, 2008
Still plenty of activity fish wise in the Atlantic Ocean here, 9 July we had 2 contacts with blue marlin and saw a blue marlin jump behind the boat, 10 July, again more contacts but no fish caught. 15 July Paul had 2 contacts with blue marlin but for the past week we have had to be happy with catching bonito, most of which are a very generous size, average 10kg.
The Pleasure Cruise Boats are doing 2 trips most days and spaces are filling up fast. You can either simply relax or be energetic and do the watersports.
Sunday is the annual Carmen fiesta where all the boats are decorated and sail from Arguineguin harbour to Puerto Mogan, with celebrations all the way, our friends - Mick and Pauline - have chartered the Sagitarius for this event so we are looking forward to a fantastic day out. Niklas II will also be in the procession.
What are you waiting for - book your holiday and excursions now!!

July 8, 2008
Yesterday saw Paul from Rochdale catch his first blue marlin of this year on only his second fishing trip with Niklas II. This was the second of the day - the first was for Dutch fisherman Kees Jansen, his marlin was approx 250kg and Paul's was 150kg. We could have had another 3 but they chose to just swim around the boat and not take the lures. Today we had another 3 contacts, 2 snapping the bands but not taking the lures and one taking the lure but not well enough and was gone. For the next 3 days we are participating in a competition from Mogan so tight lines Niklas II.

July 5, 2008
Today saw blue marlin no. 8 for Niklas II. It was the turn of Leo from Holland, Leo has been waiting 25 years for his dream to come true and today was the last day of a month here in Gran Canaria, fishing almost every day. At 11 am his line went and his 120kg blue marlin took his lure. Congratulations Leo and we look forward to seeing you next year. We also had a contact with a white marlin and good sized dorado today. On 30.6.08 we had several tuna, all in excess of 100kg, swimming around the boat, unfortunately, they were not hungry. Today was the first day fishing for Paul from Rochdale - let's see if he can beat his record of 3 blue marlin last year.

June 30, 2008
What incredible fishing we are having here in Gran Canaria this year. Heinz, fishing aboard Niklas II, had a contact with a blue marlin on 24.6.08 and then on the 28.6.08, had a 3 hour battle with a huge blue marlin. We also had Patrick and Gerard from England on the boat and the marlin took the lure on Patrick's rod - him and his son fought for 1 hour and then Heinz took over, the marlin had taken 850m line but unfortunately, we lost it. Thank you Heinz and we will look forward to you trying again with us next year.
As well as the marlin, there are still an abundance of bonito here, dorado and now we have big eye tuna, approximately 50kg in weight also.
The Cavalier released a blue marlin on 28.6.08.
The Pleasure Cruise boats are still sailing most days, offering you the chance to relax and sunbathe in temperatures averaging 30 degrees everyday, then to cool off with a nice swim and participate in water sports if you like.
Now, both the fishing boats and pleasure boats are also offering sunset trips.
So, with something to suit everybody's needs and desires, please book your trip on line now, to avoid disappointment.

June 24, 2008
Fishing is still excellent this year for trolling. White marlin, blue marlin, dorado, wahoo, tuna. Well done to Michael Miller who, after 11 days fishing and one contact with a blue marlin, finally caught one on his last day. I now have Heinz from Germany fishing with us on Niklas II, with his 35 years experience of fishing the ocean here in Gran Canaria, so good luck to him.

May 22, 2008
Today saw the 4th blue marlin in a week for Niklas II. The fisherman today was Steve from Bristol who had a double celebration as today was also his silver wedding anniversary - this is certainly one he won't forget!!! Congratulations Steve and Cherry.
Cavalier had another blue marlin on 19.5.08. May has to be a record month for marlin for many years.

May 19, 2008
Niklas II caught a white marlin today - 30kg, excellent. Also a dorado, 10kg.
All the pleasure cruise boats enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing day on the Atlantic ocean with perfect conditions and beautiful blue skies and sunshine.

May 18, 2008
Another blue marlin for Niklas II today - the third in 5 days - and this one a whopping 380kg.
Cavalier had their first blue marlin of the season yesterday, now they have had a blue and white marlin this season.
Now is the time to book your holiday in Gran Canaria and experience the ultimate in big game fishing - there are certainly plenty of big fish about at the moment.

May 17, 2008
Sadly, as my close friends and clients already know, no more Sailfish for me.
However, I am delighted to report that I am extremely happy and proud to be working with and promoting Niklas II.
The website is currently being redesigned, so watch this space!!!!
Make your reservations with me on-line for fishing or relaxing on one of three pleasure cruises I have on offer. You won't be disappointed.
Thank you to everybody for your past support and I hope I can rely on you for the same in the future.

May 16, 2008
Congratulations to Niklas II who are fishing fantastic. On Wednesday 14 May they caught and released a 180kg blue marlin and also had a wahoo in excess of 20kg. Today, Friday 16 May, they have caught a 220kg blue marlin. Well done guys.
There are still many white and blue marlin being sighted, also dorado and tuna.

May 5, 2008
Friday 2 May Niklas II had a 300kg blue marlin 50m from the boat but it was not hungry for the lure. Today, we had a spearfish on, but unfortunately we lost it. There are still many bonito, blue marlin, white marlin, spearfish, dorado here and also big eye tuna.
A very big thank you to Mary, Geoff and Josh for 3 lovely days with me - 1 on Niklas II and 2 on Sagitarius.

April 27, 2008
There was a contact with a blue marlin aboard the fishing boat Niklas II on 24.4.08 - also there have been 2 spearfish caught on other sport fishing boats. There are many bonito here at the moment so mainly trolling is being done. This is an early start to the season for marlin and spearfish - the first marlin this year being caught in March. A very big thank you to Michael Miller for fishing for 5 days with me.

April 6, 2008
We are fishing well at the moment - catching tuna, barracuda, sama, red snappers, sting rays in the main. We are starting off trolling as the first blue marlin was caught in March - very early this year - and there have been some tuna, but if nothing is happening after an hour or so then we drop anchor and fish from the bottom. Of course if you specifically want trolling only then you can charter the boat and just do that.

March 5, 2008
Sailfish is working well now. All the necessary maintenance and painting has been done. There have been sightings of tuna and bonito so we start each trip trolling "just in case" but if there is nothing then we drop anchor and bottom fish. We have been catching nice size amberjacks, cabrilla, sting rays, octopus etc. Please make your reservations as early as you can to avoid disappointment. We are looking forward to having all our friends with us again this year, also to making many new ones.

January 16, 2008
Sailfish is now out of the water for it's annual maintenance work - she will be back in a week or so looking beautiful again. Please make your reservations in advance, also remember the Puerto Rico competition in July.
From a business and personal point, 2008 has started with a bang and hopefully things are just going to get better and better. We look forward to seeing our friends again this year and meeting new people as well.

December 22, 2007
Seasons Greetings to all our clients, friends and visitors to the website.
We wish each and every one of you a very merry christmas and a very happy and prosperous 2008.

November 29, 2007
Bottom fishing is very varied at the moment - we are catching a good selection of fish, including sharks, sting rays, barracuda, kingfish, eels, octopus, sierra tuna, cabrilla, and many other small fish.
Thank-you's go to Steve Roberts with Duncan and Aaron for his 3 day charter, Geoff and Mary from Cornwall, Chris and Susie, Stig-Arne Svensson from Sweden and Pam and Trevor from Yorkshire, also Paul for being with us again.
SPECIAL CHRISTMAS OFFER - BOOK ON LINE DURING DECEMBER AND RECEIVE A 10 PERCENT DISCOUNT.

October 20, 2007
Now, we are mainly bottom fishing. We still troll on the way out just in case there are any tuna or wahoo out there - we have had a small dorado and a baracuda with trolling over the past week. Bottom fishing is producing a lot of good fish - sharks, baracuda, rays, kingfish, amberjacks, sama, sierra tuna, octopus, eels, snappers, cabrilla etc. All of which you can see from the latest photos in the gallery. Thanks to John Bergfeldt from Sweden for chartering us again, Fred and family from Holland - you were excellent - what a shame the giant sting ray cut the line with his tail right at the back of the boat, but what a sight, more than 150kg. Also thank you to Colin and Trisha and indeed everybody who has been with us.

September 19, 2007
Our last contact with a blue marlin was on 9 September, we also saw many dorado that day and for a couple of days after, but they had bait fish and were not interested in our lures. Since then there has been little activity trolling. We are now, therefore, doing a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing and will assess things daily. Monday we had turtles, which of course were released, octopus and a 5kg Kingfish, also a bonito from trolling.
Special mentions this time to Kristoff Oyen from Mallorca,Andy with his dad Ray, brother Martin and friend Andy from Worthing, Bill and Kathy from Essex, Nicholas, Quentin, Andy and Liza from Exeter and Tony and Jackie from Brighton - we shared some nice times with you, thank you very much.

September 8, 2007
A beautiful day today, the sea was perfect, and we had 3 very nice dorados. We saw two marlin jump, many dolphins putting on a good display, two turtles, rescued one baby turtle that had a plastic sack wrapped around it's neck, caught 3 dorados - 1 at 12kg and 2 at 10kg each and lost one at approx 14kg right at the back of the boat.
There are some nice size dorados and bonitos here at last.

September 3, 2007
Today saw another blue marlin for Sailfish. It was another joint effort from Paul and Trevor and it took 45 minutes to get it to the back of the boat. The estimated weight of this one is 320kg. This was an incredible experience for all on board today, the marlin leapt at least 20 times, what an awesome sight.
Yesterday we had 4 contacts within 10 minutes of each other - there were 2 blue marlin at the back of the boat and 2 contacts were within 1 minute of each other.
What a start to September for us.

August 29, 2007
Wednesday must be the lucky day for Sailfish, last week I reported a strike and today we landed a blue marlin, approx 150kg. The lucky person was Lee Byrne (now known as Lee Marlin!!), 16 years old, from Dublin, Ireland. He was amazing and brought the marlin to the boat in 35 mins. His biggest fish prior to today was a 5kg pollock!!
Competition news - 35 boats participated in this competition and a total of 8 blue marlin and 1 spearfish were caught. Again no tuna, dorado or wahoo. We had a contact at 1015 on day one, but that was all the luck for Sailfish. Never mind, at least we participated.
We say farewell to Denise after 7 weeks, fishing with Sailfish almost every day. She was lucky and caught a 291kg blue marlin whilst fishing on private boat, Niklas II.
Remember, it is possible to catch a blue marlin on our 3 hour family trip, as we have proved today. If you are planning your holiday, please make your fishing trip reservation early to avoid disappointment.

August 22, 2007
Today we had a a good strike with a blue marlin, estimated at 350-400 kg. It took the lure nearest to the boat and then took the line right away. Unfortunately, it slipped the hook. What a catch that would have been. Tomorrow is the first day of the Pasito Blanco competition so let's hope we have some good luck and good news to report.

August 17, 2007
Yesterday saw another very exciting day for Sailfish. First we had a contact with a blue marlin in the morning then all was quiet for a while then a strike on the same rod - Paul's again. He fought with this blue marlin for 45 minutes, played it to the back of the boat, Pepe took the leader ready to release the fish, when it decided to release itself! It was not tired enough and wanted to take the line and go off again, but instead the line snapped and off it went with the lure. As Pepe had taken hold of the leader line this is classed as a catch so 2 blue marlins for Paul and Sailfish in 5 days. When it had taken the lure initially it bent the outrigger right down so this had to be straightened and then the lines put out again, then we had a white marlin around the boat but this was not hungry so no more takes.

August 13, 2007
Yesterday we had our first blue marlin of the season. It was a joint effort from Paul and Trevor and it took 50 minutes to get it to the back of the boat. It weighed 220 kg and the pictures will be in the photo gallery later. Wow, well done Paul and Trevor and also Pepe and Carmelo.

August 4, 2007
Fishing is very slow at the moment - hopefully August will see a big improvement and we will have some bonito here and also the bigger fish. There are plenty of dolphins being seen, also turtles and hammerhead sharks.
Please be assured that Puerto Rico has not been affected by the terrible fire that we have had here. It is now under control and although it will take many years for the middle of the island to recover, it is business as usual for us. We have heard that the press and news bulletins are suggesting that people select different holiday destinations to Gran Canaria - please do not do this, and visit us as you have planned.

July 24, 2007
The annual 3 day Puerto Rico competition finished on Saturday and it was not to be for Sailfish. There were only 7 blue marlin caught in the entire competition - 28 boats participated and we all fished for 21 hours over the 3 days - there were no white marlin, spear fish, dorado, wahoo or tuna at all for those days!! 6 of the marlin caught went to private fishing boats and only 1 to a sport fishing boat, White Marlin. We are so ready for our first marlin of the season and whoever is on board with us when we get it is guaranteed a fiesta!! We still have the Pasito Blanco competition in August to look forward to as well. Thanks in this news bulletin go to Karen and Paul, who chartered us for the competition, also Paul from Rochdale who fished with them. Also Stig-Arne and Christian Svensson who spent 5 days with us earlier in the month, also the Cook and Pyke families and friends from Dublin who chartered us to celebrate Gerard's 18th birthday and also the group we had from Gran Canaria.
We are still seeing the marlin out there and have had 2 more contacts since the last report, we also had two 5kg bonito earlier in the month.

June 27, 2007
There is a lot of activity out there with blue marlins - we are still waiting for our first one of the season. We have seen many and had a couple near the boat. On Saturday we had our first contact. It was the last hour of the last day for Heinz, who had been fishing with us all week, it took the lure on his rod and then cut the line with his bill, disappearing with the lure! The same day Heinz caught a 6kg dorado and we rescued a turtle that was being strangled by line - we released him safely. Yesterday we had two more nice dorado. A big thank you to Heinz from Germany, also Kay (Danish Dynamite) who also fished with us every day for a week.

June 17, 2007
The second half of May and the beginning of June have been quiet, both from a client point of view and also fishing wise. We are trolling every day looking for the blue marlin, there are many dolphins, pilot whales, turtles and flying fish out there. Wednesday is still family day where we do a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing. Today we say a brief farewell to Denise (see you again in 4 weeks!!) after her fortnight here, also her daughter Ann and partner Robbie and greetings to Heinz as he starts his week of fishing with us.
Last week we had a mola mola (moon fish/sun fish) weighing approx 100kg which we photographed and then released. Also that day we had a marlin at the side and back of the boat but it didnt want to take the lure.
Thank you to Javier, Antonio and Anna from Pamplona for chartering Sailfish twice in June. It was also very nice to have Tom and his family from Holland with us again.

May 17, 2007
There have been a further two blue marlin's caught by the private fishing boat, Black Marlin. Sailfish had two nice dorados on 28.4.07 and we have been catching tuna and bonito. We have rescued three turtles over the past few weeks, we come across them tangled up in rope, line, netting, bags and many other things. Where possible we free them ourselves and then release them. However we had to bring one in on the boat for collection by the Turtle Rescue Centre as it had a hook down it's throat. They will keep it there for a couple of months and then release it back. We are now mainly trolling but the three hour trips on Wednesdays are trolling and bottom fishing combined. A very big thank you to Karen and Paul from Manchester who fished with us almost every day for two weeks and for the lovely gifts you gave us - we look forward very much to having you fish with us in the Puerto Rico competition in July.

April 22, 2007
We have been catching many nice tuna over the past few weeks - sierra tuna, skipjack tuna, bonito and albacor tuna. The first blue marlin of the season was caught yesterday by a private fishing boat, Black Marlin, weighing 285kg.We are looking forward to our first one this year!! There are many people that I would like to personally thank for fishing with Sailfish since the last news update - we have had Paul Fryer with us again, Chris and Tony, Alan Roffey, Paw Zimmermann, our friend Dave who has now left for Alicante - good luck! Thanks to Michael Adams and his partner for chartering us on 14.3.07, Mats Jacobson, his family and associates from Sweden who chartered us on 3.4.07. Gareth and Adrian from Ireland who chartered us for 2 days on 4/5.4.07, the Bouss and Michaux families from Belgium who chartered us on 10.4.07, the Swedish group who were with us on 12.4.07 and another Swedish group on 20.4.07 who caught 2 nice tuna that they later ate in Olas Locas. Finally the 4 fantastic families with their lovely children from America living in Germany who were on vacation before the men left for service in Afghanistan.

March 19, 2007
We are still doing a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing with many sierra tuna, barracuda, red snappers, bonito, rays being caught. As usual we have met many nice people and also had our regular clients with us. Thanks to Rene Nielsen and Rene Pedersen from Denmark who chartered our boat on 10.2.07,also to Javier and family from Spain who had two trips with us, to Anders and his family from Sweden who joined us for a sunset trip to celebrate his birthday, also Mick and Pauline from England - we had a lovely day on 6.3.07 when we saw dolphins, whales, a turtle and also caught some nice fish, and of course Paul from England and Denise from England. As well as enjoying our day fishing, we have been enjoying eating our catch in Olas Locas, our local restaurant, where they are only too happy to cook our freshly caught fish for us to eat with our clients.
Our Wednesday special 3 hour family trips are still proving to be very popular so please make your reservation in advance to be sure of a place.

February 5, 2007
We are doing a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing at the moment. We have caught dorado, sierra tuna and nice size bonito trolling whilst bottom fishing is producing rays, red snappers, eels, octopus, lizard fish, spider fish etc.
We look forward to having our regular clients with us again this year and hope to meet many new friends as well.

December 18, 2006
We would like to wish all our clients a very merry christmas and a happy and prosperous 2007.
We look forward very much to having you back with us and catching some good fish together.
Warm thanks to John Bergfeldt and his family who chartered Sailfish on 5.12.06, we had a lovely day with you, and also to Niels Moeller and his family who spent the day with us on 13.12.06.

November 21, 2006
Please check out our special offer and make your reservation for next year during December or January to receive your discount. This news update is mainly to thank the many nice people we have had on Sailfish over the past few weeks -special thanks to Herman, Tom and Cor from Holland, also The Wheelers from Wales and The Roberts from Cornwall, Timo, Sari and children from Finland who chartered us on 14.11.06, Kuno and Kurt from Denmark, Stig-Arne Svensson from Sweden who caught an angel shark on his return visit with us and also the Lundstrom/Johansson families whom we had a very enjoyable day with. Finally a mention for the two crazy girls from Eastbourne with Roslyn catching a 120 kg ray - warm thanks to you all.

November 4, 2006
The weather has been very mixed over the past week, with a few overcast days, heavy rain, strong winds plus the normal sunshine! The fishing is also mixed at the moment - some days little fish is caught and others are good. We are catching blue shark, hammerhead shark, angel shark and tope, different species of rays, eels, snappers, plus over the past couple of weeks we have had 3 turtles brought onto the boat. All the turtles, sharks and rays have been released. There are still bonito, dorado and wahoo in the waters when we are trolling on the way out.
Warm thanks to Henric and his large family from Sweden, who chartered Sailfish on 27.10.06 - the weather and fishing were not too good but your company was, and hopefully we made the best of the day for you - we saw many dolphins, you enjoyed an impromptu swim and even a jet ski ride! Thanks also to the Pringuet family from Belgium who chartered the boat on 3.11.06, catching and releasing a small hammerhead shark.

October 20, 2006
Today has seen another good day's fishing on Sailfish. After two unsettled days the sea was calm and the weather beautiful. We had amongst our guests today our friend Colin, celebrating his birthday, Brendan and Rachel revisiting us and 3 new clients - Larry and his sons Lee and Shane. We caught and released a tope and a blue shark and also 2 10kg bonito.
We are doing a mixture of trolling and bottom fishing at the moment - there are still marlin out there, also dorado, wahoo and tuna. The bottom fishing is producing many rays, eels, small shark and snappers.
We look forward to having regular and new clients on board with us.

September 11, 2006
On 2.9.06 we had a contact with a blue marlin, the following day, 3.9.06, we had a strike with a blue marlin. I myself was on the boat and to witness the blue marlin jumping and dancing was incredible. Unfortunately it cut the line with its tail or fin. The following day, 4.9.06 we were fortunate to hook up with another blue marlin. The lucky man whose rod it was on, Bryan McKinny from Glasgow, had been fishing with us all week and this was his last day and what an experience we all shared. It took 1 hour and 50 minutes before we released an estimated 380kg blue marlin, something I will certainly never forget. Thanks to Bryan and Theresa for an excellent week.
Please have a good look through our new website and contact me for any further information you require or to make a booking.

August 27, 2006
Sailfish is fishing very well at the moment. On Thursday 24.8.06 we had a 25kg wahoo, on Friday 25.8.06 we released a 180kg blue marlin and today, 27.8.06 we had 2 dorado each weighing 14kg. We are also catching smaller dorado and many bonito. The Wednesday family fishing days are also fishing well with bonito, rays, octopus, snapper, lizard fish and many more being caught.

August 3, 2006
After many contacts but no success,we have finally tagged and released our first blue marlin of the season on 1.8.06. The weight was 180kg-200kg. The following day Marion from Lincoln caught the new Sailfish record Ray with a 140kg Eagle Ray - so Marcus your record has been broken - you need to come back and catch a bigger one!!!
The fishing is very good at the moment with many marlin, tuna, dorado and bonito.
We are still available for charter for the Pasito Blanco competition in August, so if you are interested, please contact me for further details.

I am pleased to report that we are busy at the moment, so it is advisable to make your reservation in advance over the internet to avoid disappointment. New pictures will be put on the gallery soon and anybody who has been with us and enjoyed theirselves, please sign our guestbook. Also if you have taken any photos you wish us to display please send them to us.

June 10, 2006
Well, we finally came back into the water at 2030 hours on 6.6.06 after 29 long hard days. The engines were lifted out of the boat, stripped down, all new parts bought and then they were rebuilt. We have also strengthened the boat, put new wood in, fibreglassed, painted, had new doors fitted and made many cosmetic changes. She now looks more professional and runs like a dream. We have had two fishing excursions now and on both seen a marlin, the first one made contact but the second was just seen at the back of the boat. There are many many dolphins, whales, turtles and birds out there so hopefully tomorrow and thereafter we will be lucky. Later in the week photographs showing the work being done on the boat and then the finished result will be in the photo gallery.
We have plaaces available to charter the boat for the Puerto Rico competition in July and the Pasito Blanco competition in August. Please email for further info if you are interested. Also, please remember that we do our family 3 hour trips on a Wednesday and do full 6 hour trips every other morning and 4 or 5 hour trips in the afternoons. When you have booked your holiday, why not book your fishing trip in advance over the internet as well. We look forward to seeing you.

We have been doing a mixture of bottom fishing and trolling. There have been 3 marlin caught already with the season starting early. We have still been catching good size rays, tope and baracuda. Trolling we have had some nice bonito and on 5.5.06 our good friend and frequent visitor to Sailfish, Heinz from Germany, caught an 18kg Wahoo. Please look in the photo gallery. We are now undertaking our annual maintenance programme - we are refurbishing the engines and doing many different tasks in order to make the boat look and perform better than before and therefore offer you an even better service. Places are available from Saturday 27.5.06.

The fishing is nearly as good as the weather here at the moment with many fish being caught including rays, tope, angel shark, barracuda, red snapper, mackerel. Our friend Markus from Sweden caught a 120kg ray on 29.3.06. All pictures can be viewed in our photo gallery. Please send us any pictures you have taken and then these can also be included on our website. We have our normal daily trips 0900 to 1500 hours every day except Wednesday when we now offer a shorter 3 hour trip. This is proving to be very popular so please reserve your place early to avoid disappointment. We offer 0900 to 1200, 1230 to 1530 and 1600 to 1900 hours. We also do afternoon/sunset trips as well. The marlin season will be with us starting next month, so again, please make your booking as soon as you can.

Senor Buliger and his son from Rumania enjoyed 2 good days fishing with us earlier this month and caught, amongst other fish, a 70kg ray, a 9kg mori eel and several atlantic tuna. Senor Kirkpatrick and his son, Michael from England also enjoyed 2 days fishing with us, with Michael catching a 25kg ray. All their pictures can be viewed in our photo gallery. We have still been mainly bottom fishing and catching some good fish including angel sharks, barracuda, rays, eels and snappers. We have also had many sierra tuna fishing with live bait. We have had a few days now with large albacore and big eye tuna being caught. Please be assured that any turtles we catch are cleaned, have their teeth checked and are then released back into the sea. We will now be doing a mixture of bottom fishing and trolling. Should you wish to make a reservation and would prefer to do one particular type of fishing please specify at the time of booking. We are more than happy to accommodate private charters to your exact specification. Please remember, if you have been on Sailfish and have any good photographs of the trip, to send them to me, for putting in our photo gallery on the web.

The trolling season has now ended and bottom fishing has begun. At the moment we are still able to put the lines out as we leave the harbour as there are still some tuna, bonito, wahoo out there. The bottom fishing is good with sharks, tope, eels and rays being caught on a regular basis. Please check our photo gallery as we have a picture of the 4 albacor tuna, total weight 93kg, caught at the end of September. We also have some nice photos sent to us by Oliver Meiske and his son from Germany - they were clients on Sailfish last week - including a turtle that was brought on board to have the algae cleaned from his shell and some dentistry work done before he was released back into the water. If any of our clients have any photos taken during one of our trips, please forward them to us and we will put them in the gallery.
